Awards Ceremony

The Scheme culminates in an Annual Awards Ceremony that is hosted by BP at their Dyce Headquarters, Aberdeen. Student tutoring is not formally assessed but every tutor is awarded a ‘Certificate of Participation’ at the Awards Ceremony as recognition of their efforts.

The motivational opening address at the Ceremony and the presentation of certificates to each attending student tutor, alternates annually between the respective Directors of Education within the City and Aberdeenshire.

“Aberdeen City is pleased to be a partner with BP colleagues on this important and successful project. The scheme provides  an excellent opportunity for students, schools and children to  benefit from working together and learning from each other.  It has provided a valuable resource for schools and enabled  many students to taste teaching before committing to a full  time career, leading to many wonderful teachers entering the profession!”

“Attending the evening celebration of the BP Student Tutoring Scheme is one of the highlights for me as Director of Education & Children’s Services in Aberdeenshire. It is always an inspiring event, hearing how much students have developed and learned while working with schools and seeing many future leaders – both educationally and across the professional landscape also gives me confidence for the future.”
